Short Description
The "Koraes" Public Library of Chios is one of the biggest libraries in Greece. Founded in 1792, it was originally an annex to the Great School of Chios. It was destroyed in 1822 and created again, mostly thanks to Koraes and other intellectuals of the Greek diaspora. Today it houses an art and folklore museum beside its large collection of manuscripts and printed materials.
