The Koventareios Municipal Library of Kozani traces its beginning in the 17th century. Associated with local schools and later institutions like the "Oikos Veltioseos" and the Reading Room of Kozani, it was constantly enriched by scholars and benefactors. It became the Municipal Library in 1923. Today it holds a large contemporary books collection as well as a significant number of manuscripts and early printed books, archival materials, archeological collections and a collection of maps including the famous twelve-page Map of Rigas Velestinlis.
